Striving to become the youngest woman to grace the cover of Black Enterprise magazine,

Sheree B. Oats, a fourth year public relations student at Florida A&M University is ready to

take the world by storm.

Acquiring the skills to become an effective public relations practitioner, Sheree has spent

her four years on FAMU’s campus working in student media and being involved in various

organizations on campus.

This past summer Sheree was a marketing intern at Pepsi Beverages Company in Atlanta.

She led multiple sampling events throughout Atlanta alongside radio stations to promote

different Mountain Dew products.

On campus, Sheree has used her public relations skills during FAMU’s welcome week,

hosted by the Office of Student Activities, where she served as the associate brand

manager for Target.  She led a team of 130 students who worked to welcome freshmen

to FAMU during the Back To College Target Event.

In the past, Sheree has worked with brands such as BlackBerry where her responsibility

was to promote newly launched BlackBerry products to FAMU students.

In her free time, Sheree participated in student media in the School of Journalism & Graphic Communication. She is a past member of PRodigy, a student-run PR firm. She worked on several key accounts to coordinate events and use social media to promote, plan and conduct research for clients.

Sheree’s sophomore year, she served as the director of communications for the Student Government Association. As the director of communication she implemented the “I Represent FAMU” campaign to boost student morale. The campaign sparked a community, wide movement that generated revenue for student scholarships.

Her most notable community service to date was to developing a six-week marketing and public relations plan for the Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America campaign that raised $75,000 to a build school in Nairobi, Kenya. The revenue generated from the “Scouting for Change” campaign rebuilt two schools in Nairobi.

During Sheree’s matriculation at FAMU, she has developed a broad range of skills that will enable her to become an effective public relations practitioner.
